The government of Haryana state has understood the requirement and necessity of higher education towards a better future for both individuals and state and that is why several initiatives have been taken in this regard.
To promote better education, it may be noted that the government has sanctioned a sum of 115.55 crore rupees in the year 07-08. Apart from this there are other initiatives like Rajiv Gandhi Education City which is meant for encouraging higher learning and research in various aspects. Even the government has taken initiative for setting up projects like the Education through Satellite that is EDUSAT in all government colleges of Haryana. It is to be noted that 50 more engineering colleges in addition to already existing 112 has made a lot of space for students of the state. As per 2001 census the literacy level of Haryana was 67.9%. The government is actively enough to encourage women's education in the country.

Apart from the usual chores of a regular stream of science, arts and commerce, there are many professional courses. Even the government has taken initiative in introducing degree courses in new professions like Tourism Management, Information Management, Business Administration, Computer Application, Mass Communication and Library and Information Science. Other than this there are courses like insurance, event management, media studies and functional English.
